The Founder

Guardsman Scientific was founded with the goal of using data-driven technologies to improve the care of patients with serious medical conditions. Early interest and success have been demonstrated in patients known or at risk of developing heart failure (HF).

Along the way, Guardsman built a comprehensive patient-specific and data-focused IP portfolio that includes methods, hardware and software addressing serious medical conditions, including HF. 

Daniel P. Vezina, M.D., is the principal founder of Guardsman Scientific and the inventor of the GEMS technology. Dr. Vezina is a serial medical entrepreneur with clinical expertise in Echocardiography, Anesthesiology and Cardiovascular Medicine. Over the last 20 years, he has held academic appointments and medical directorships in well recognized clinical programs in echocardiography, and cardiac anesthesiology. As a founder, senior manager and/or board member of companies in medical education software, medical big data analytics, heart failure and cardiac ultrasound spaces, he is well positioned to execute Guardsman's strategy using a broad spectrum of skill sets in clinical, research, and complex intellectual property portfolio matters.
